Teak sideboard by Val Rossi for Beithcraft 1960s
A teak cross-base sideboard designed by Val Rossi for Beithcraft, Scotland in the late 1960s.
Beautifully simple lines with distinctive rounded corners and a crossed sleigh leg-frame that is the hallmark of Rossi’s designs for Beithcraft. Finished in a warm-toned teak, this long sideboard provides a cupboard at each end with three drawers and a cocktail cabinet with drop-down door in the centre. The top drawer has dividers for cutlery and bears the Beithcraft maker’s label.
Good structural condition with some minor marks and blemishes which are shown in the photos, including a mark on the front edge of the top, a small loss of veneer at the edge of the drop-down door and some small abrasions on the right-hand end. It is, notwithstanding, a very striking piece of furniture and the signs of wear do little to detract from the overall impact of the form and design. Cleaned and re-oiled with Danish oil.
