Trento sideboard in teak by Nils Jonsson for Troeds 1960s

Teak sideboard ‘Trento’ model designed by Nils Jonsson for Troeds, Sweden c.1960.

A very simple and elegant piece of furniture made from solid and veneer teak in a rich honey colour with recessed handles and tapered round legs. The interior is finished in blonde birch. Two sliding doors open to reveal cupboards with adjustable chamfered shelves. Four drawers, the upper drawer lined in royal blue baize with dividers and a sliding tray inset.

Fully restored to very good condition. Cleaned and re-oiled. Tiny restoration to drawer handle (see photo) and some marks inside the bottom of the left-hand cupboard and on the baize drawer lining (see photos). Otherwise very light signs of wear.

This sideboard is characterised by clean architectural lines and exceptionally high-quality design and manufacture.

The Troeds company was founded in 1934 by Svea and Hugo Troeds and produced high-end furniture throughout the middle of the 20th Century. In the 1960s they were the principal manufacturers of the designs of Nils Jonsson during the height of his creative output.
