Ash & Teak Sideboard by Remploy 1970s

Low-level early-1970s minimalist credenza finished in ash veneer made by Remploy 1971.

The sideboard has two sliding-door cupboards and four drawers with solid teak handles set on solid teak legs.

This elegantly simple sideboard was designed and made in the UK by Remploy. It is inscribed underneath with the date August 1971 and ‘Gold Seal Furniture Ltd’. Gold Seal was presumably the supplier and a further series of reference numbers suggest that this may originally have been MOD contract furniture.

With strong, simple lines and beautiful golden ash-wood grain, it’s now ready to provide excellent storage for a modern home. Its low profile makes it an ideal retro tv or media stand and the cupboards are perfect for vinyl LP storage. The original adjustable cupboard shelves are no longer present, but suitable replacements to fit can be provided if required.

There are a few light marks on the top (see photos) but the overall condition is very good for its age.
