A large wardrobe in classic Art Deco style.
Finished in highly-figured blond bird’s eye maple with darker burr walnut banding and stepped details. Made by Caplans in Whitechapel, London in the 1930s. Two hanging rails and four coat-hooks in the main compartment with mirror inside the right-hand door; chrome-plated labelled pocket for camphor balls. In the right-hand section there are five shelves; two glass-fronted drawers (one of which has the original bakelite knobs); and a deep drawer at the bottom. Original working lock and key with a push-button door catch.
Good general condition with no significant flaws only minor marks and wear consistent with age and use.
The wardrobe separates 2:1 into large sections for ease and safety of transport and negotiating doorways and will be shipped dismantled.
