Burr walnut gentleman’s wardrobe Henry Ronson, London 1940s
SOLD
A compact Art Deco gentleman’s wardrobe made by Ronson Furniture, London in the 1940s.
Finished in burr walnut veneer with brass handles set on beechwood roundels and with a carved pine detail at the top of the centre post. Original lock and key. The interior has been modified at some point to fit a single rail across the width. Cufflink tray and tie rail inside the left-hand door.
The wardrobe is stamped with the maker’s mark and with the CC41 utility mark applied by the UK government during the years of rationing 1941-51. Ronson Furniture later traded under the name Heron (a contraction of Henry Ronson’s name) to avoid litigation by the eponymous cigarette-lighter manufacturer.
Some minor woodworm damage to the lower sections of the doors but this has been extensively treated and restored (see photos).
Delivery to mainland GB included.
