Teak sideboard by Val Rossi for Beithcraft c.1970

SOLD

A very distinctive teak sideboard designed c.1970 by Val Rossi for high-end Scottish cabinet makers Beithcraft. Bears the original maker’s label.

Flowing organic lines in the sculpted handles and that unmistakable cruciform base on which the cabinet appears to float. Val Rossi also worked for McIntosh before moving to the smaller firm Beithcraft to create some of their most iconic furniture. Production volumes were small and construction mostly by hand making what were expensive, premium pieces at the time. With such individual design and exceptional quality of manufacture, it is easy to see how this has become such a sought-after and now rarely-available piece of design.

Two cupboards – full depth shelf on the left and half-depth on the right. Three drawers with the uppermost drawer having cutlery dividers and blue baize lining. All finished in stunning golden teak with carved solid teak base in a warmer tone. High-quality brass door hinges.

Approx. dimension (cm): 183w x 46d x 77h
