Rosewood sideboard Dalescraft 1960s
SOLD
A stunning Mid-century Modern sideboard designed by Malcolm David Walker for Dalescraft in the late 1950s/early 1960s as part of the ‘Greygarth’ collection,
described in the brochure as ‘a modern interpretation of classical simplicity and line’.
Exceptional quality cabinetmaking finished in beautifully grained Bombay rosewood veneers and with distinctive hourglass-shaped handles milled in solid brass. The surround and underframe are made from sapele.
Four equal drawers on the left with the upper drawer lined in green baize and with removable cutlery dividers. The two doors open on to cupboards with fixed position shelves (the left-hand shelf is not original).
The sideboard has been restored and re-lacquered by hand with a brush lacquer and finished with beeswax polish. There are some minor blemishes in the wood, light signs of wear and a small repair at the back right-hand corner.
