The G-Plan Danish Design range was created for E Gomme in 1962 by Ib Kofod Larsen. It was a premium flagship range of furniture that was produced in relatively small numbers and with the highest quallity construction: the precisely designed and executed dovetail drawer joints are testament to this. Combined with an elegant simplicity and beautifully proportioned design, this has led to these pieces becoming some of the most desirable and sought after mid-century furniture for the modern home.
Good restored condition. Light signs of wear. Cleaned and re-oiled. Small repair to bottom right corner. Handles all without damage.
Approx. dimensions (cm): 76h x 235w x 48d
Ib Kofod Larsen (1921-2003) was one of the most widely known and celebrated furniture designers of the 20th Century. Born in Denmark and a prize-winning student of the Danish Royal Academy in Copenhagen in the 1940s, he went on to create classic designs for Faarup Møbelfabrik and other leading manufacturers in Europe and the USA. He was commissioned by E Gomme in 1962 to create a series of designs to revitalise the G-Plan brand with an upmarket Danish Design range. His designs are characterised by an experimental approach and a simplicity which allows the natural beauty of the wood grain to be the star.
