Dining table Mygge/Cadovius Denmark c.1968
SOLD
Dining table by Poul Cadovius for CADO (France & Son) with fabulous hand-painted design by Susanne Fjeldsøe Mygge c.1968.
This is a ‘tulip’ table made in cast aluminium by CADO in Denmark. It is elaborately decorated with a hand-painted, arabesque design in blue and green enamels with gold details. An amazing collaboration between Danish furniture designer, Poul Cadovius and the artist Susanne Fjeldsøe Mygge – a protegée of Bjørn Wiinblad.
France & Son was founded in 1948 by Charles France and Eric Daverkosen. They produced furniture of exceptional quality, including important early collaborations with designer Finn Juhl. The company was bought by Poul Cadovius in 1967 and eventually renamed CADO, although it continued to produce pieces under the France name for a time.
This table bears both the CADO label (inside the base) and the metal France & Son badge which was in use until 1969 (on the underside). Consequently, this seems to date it to the transitional period in the late 1960s.
The table is in excellent condition for its age, however, it shows the expected wear from ordinary use including some fine light scratches on the surface.
Approx. dimensions (cm): 138 diameter; 69 high
