McIntosh rosewood sideboard

SOLD

‘Dunfermline’ model sideboard in rosewood by Tom Robertson for A.H. McIntosh of Kirkcaldy c.1965

A stunning long credenza finished in rosewood veneer of beautifully aged and mellowed colour and grain. Designed by Tom Robertson as part of the ‘Dunfermline’ range of furniture made by McIntosh in the mid 1960s.

There is a central shelved cupboard enclosed by two doors with circular handles. On the left there are three drawers with sculpted asymmetric handles. The upper drawer has red baize lining and teak dividers for cutlery. On the right there is a drop down door which reveals a cocktail cabinet with a pull-out melamine faced table.

A.H. McIntosh were renowned for the quality of their furniture which was produced using traditional cabinet-making techniques and this sideboard is a fine example of that tradition.

This elegant piece has been carefully cleaned and polished ready for modern use. It is in excellent condition with only minor flaws as to be expected for furniture of this age: there are tiny dents in the central door handles and some minor blemishes on the top.
