Teak, formica & brass dry bar 1950s

,h1>SOLD

A fabulous mid-century L-shaped dry bar in teak with black formica counters and brass details.

This substantial piece of furniture is set on concealed castors allowing it to be manoeuvred with relative ease across a level floor. A particular feature is the two tiered countertops covered in jet-black formica. The upper level is supported on elegant brass pillars. The curved sweep of the bar is finished in teak veneer with aluminium and black rubber trim which acts as a protective bumper. At the base there is a short formica-topped plinth (or foot rest for the indolent barfly…). Behind the bar are open shelves (two with brass rails) and a cupboard with working lock and key.

Probably made in the late 1950s in Italy. The simple, elegant style has definite echoes of the clean, polished lines of Art Deco.

An ideal feature for a small club or the home of a committed cocktail enthusiast.

Very good condition with just light signs of wear and patina consistent with age. Some bowing to the horizontal rails behind the bar.

Approx. dimensions (cm): overall 179w x 92.5d x 108h; lower counter 89.5h x 179w x 42d ; upper counter 108h x 158w x 32d.
