Long afrormosia coffee table by John Herbert for A.Younger Ltd 1950s.

This long and elegant coffee table was designed by John Herbert and made by Younger in the late 1950s. It is constructed mainly from solid afrormosia wood (African Teak) that was typical of their popular Volnay and Fonseca ranges. The top has distinctive upturned ends.

With its simple modern lines and ‘floating’ top it closely resembles a coffee table design which Arne Hovmand Olsen created for Mogens Kold at around the same time.

In very good vintage condition. Other than a faint scratch on table top (see last photo) the table is in an excellent state with only the light marks of age and gentle wear that form part of its vintage charm and patina.
